FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does it cost?

The total cost of the course is made up of school fees, state fees, and a court fee. The school fee is $26.95, the processing fee is $10, and the state fees always add up to $69. The only fee that varies is the court diversion fee, which depends on the court that issued the ticket and the date of your violation. The schools have no control over the state or court fees. Note that if you are taking our course for some other reason besides having your ticket diverted, some of the above fees may not reply. Shoot us an email if you need to take the course for some reason other than to divert a ticket.

Do I pay the fine for the ticket in addition to taking the defensive driving course?

No! You take defensive driving instead of paying the fine. This is very important - don't double-pay!

How do I submit my documents?

The state requires us to collect a copy of your driver’s license (or other government-issued ID) and citation and manually verify that the information you entered is correct. If you want to get approved quickly, sign in and upload the documents directly on our site. Alternatively, you can text, email, or fax pictures of your documents, but those will take a little longer to review and approve. You can text the documents to 480-442-9567, email them to arizonatrafficschool@gmail.com, or fax them to (844) 310-9482.

How long does it take to get approved?

The state requires us to manually verify the information you submit. If you upload clear, complete, legible documents, we will usually get you approved within 30 minutes between the hours of 8am and midnight. If you send the documents by text, email, or fax it will take a few hours longer because our process for those is different. If we can't read the documents you submit, we will put a notice on the website that you will see when you log in. You can always log in at any time to view the status of your registration.

Why does my receipt say "Cheap N Easy Traffic School"?

We manage multiple defensive driving schools under that parent company name.

I never received a confirmation email.

We send emails automatically when you register, when you are approved, and when you finish the course, but those emails get lost in spam filters more often than we like. If you search your spam folder you will probably find the message from us.But in any case, you can also just log in to see your status.

Will I be notified when the court has dismissed my ticket?

Unfortunately the courts do not notify us, you, or the state when they have dismissed the ticket, so the only way to confirm is to call the court directly a couple of weeks after you finish the course. However, you are not obligated to do so, and most people do not. As long as you pass the course before your deadline you can rest easy, and if we hear back from the court with an issue we either handle it on your behalf or notify you right away.

How long does the course take?

The course is 4 hours long, but if you need more time to read the information you can take as long as you'd like. Most people find 4 hours is plenty of time to read the text. There are sixteen sections, each with a 15 minute clock that must count down before you can click “Next” to proceed to the next section.

Can I log out if I need to take a break?

Yes, you can log in and out of the course as much as you need. Our system keeps track of your progress.

What is the 7 day deadline?

You must finish the defensive driving course at least 7 calendar days before your court date. (If you received an extension, the extension date is your new court date.) This is a State rule and we abide by it strictly.

Can I get an extension?

Some courts allow the schools to grant a first-time extension, but the State has strict rules on how we apply those extensions. We are only able to grant you an extension if you register and pay in full before the 7 day deadline. If you missed your deadline, or if you need more time to be able to pay, you need to call the court and ask them directly for a continuance. Some courts will grant it over the phone, some will deny it, some will require you to write a letter to the judge - it's all up to the individual courts.

How do I make a payment?

We accept payment by credit card, debit card, or PayPal. We do not accept cash or check, and all payment is due up front.

How does the class work?

The course is divided into 16 sections of text. You are asked to spend a minimum of 15 minutes on each section reading and reviewing the driving material. If you finish faster than that, congratulations; you still have to wait until the clock counts down the full 15 minutes per section. This is a State requirement.

At the end of your registration, you will be given an "identity verification questionnaire." It will ask you things like whether you have ever been skydiving before, what is your favorite color, etc. You will get those exact same questions again throughout the class, SO IT IS IMPERATIVE that you remember your answers! As long as your answers match the ones you gave at the beginning, that proves your identity and satisfies the State that you didn't have someone else take the exam for you. But if you miss two of these questions in a row, we have to kick you out of the class and make you start over. State rules, not ours. So pay attention to what you're clicking on, and you'll do fine. Click on things randomly and you may join the small group of people who have failed our class.

Each section will also have three quiz questions at the end that you must answer correctly before proceeding.

Do I need to do anything else once I pass the course? Do I need to contact the court?

Nope, we take it from there! We will transmit your results to the court, and will pay the court and state fees on your behalf.

Why do I have to sign a declaration of eligibility?

It is the state Law. You are required by law to declare your eligibility and acknowledge and agree to the policies stated there before you may attend the ticket diversion program.

What if it turns out that I am not eligible for diversion but I already took the course? Do I get a refund? Don't you have to check my eligibility when I register?

We check the State system to see if you took another defensive driving course for a violation that occurred within a year of your current one, and we look over the documents you submit to make sure the violation is eligible. If we find that you are not eligible, we cancel your registration and refund all your fees. But if there’s something you didn’t tell us about – for instance, if you already paid the ticket, or if you lied about the court extension date – the court may reject your completion. At that point we will probably be able to refund the court fees, but probably not the state fees per ACJA § 7-205(F)(30)(d):
"Refund of state fees and state surcharges to a school or a student is not permitted for an ineligible violation or an ineligible student who attends a defensive driving course, whether by fault of the student or school."

What if I received multiple violations on my ticket?

If you received more than one violation on your citation, you will have to pay for the additional violations separately. Please consult your court with questions about payment for multiple violations.
